Pleasant Boundaries

Lord,

I praise you for this garden plot

you have asked me to tend,

thank you that you have given me all that I need

to till, seed, grow, water, and nurture

my garden plot for you.

I ask for greater wisdom, discernment,

knowledge, understanding, and insight,

to steward rightly this garden —

my heart, mind, soul, body, time, and energy,

my gifts, strengths, and talents,

my call and the works you have prepared for me to do.

O Lord, catch those foxes —

those sly ones that come in with lying grins,

conflicting motives, their own agendas,

disrupting, taking, and destroying the tender seedlings

and fruit of my garden plot,

stealing my peace and joy.

Lord, catch them and cast them out!

Show me where my pleasant boundaries lie,

help me to guard my plot with all diligence.

I praise you that you are Helper, my strong Defender,

and that your Spirit dwells within me —

a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.

Enable me by your grace to tend to my garden

that it’s fruits may bring you

all the honor, glory, and praise

that belongs to you.

Amen.
