Sweet Surrender

Photo by Carl Schlabach on Unsplash.

Lord,

I worship you

God of my surrender,

taking my sticky fears,

washing me with your blood,

granting me a new filter

of love

to see with renewed eyes,

a heart of flesh,

your heart beating in mine,

replacing my stony tablets,

my control

with Spirit and life.

You hear my cries,

untangle me from grasping sins

in a moment,

you hide me under your hand,

deliver me from within,

my shackles loosen without,

my enemies,

now a witness with me,

of your love and mercy,

transforming us both,

healing and making all things,

old things,

right, whole, good,

establishing your truth,

your love,

your light.

You make all things new.

I praise you for your deliverance

and I bless you

precious Lord,

Lord of my salvation.

Amen.

Known By Life

Abba,

Your love overwhelms me,

I’m amazed that you see me,

your child, your own,

a speck of dust,

standing as a separate entity,

before your glorious presence.

You knew the choices of my father, my father’s father,

and my own, made in sin, would lead me

down paths of heartache and bondage.

Yet that you would appoint me to believe,

grant repentance to me that leads to life,

and open my heart to your Son —

I’m in awe of your mercy.

In the midst of my struggles and brokenness,

you cherish, treasure, and dignify me,

and honor my free will and choice.

Lord, you have loved me with an everlasting love,

I bless you for your salvation,

I praise you for your joyous shouts over my life,

your delight in leaning in and hearing my voice,

and answering the movements of my heart.

I am nothing without you,

you make me everything I was meant to be,

you give me life.

God you are so good,

thank you for knowing you, knowing life!

Amen.

Rest Secure

Lord,

I thank you that I can come freely to you,

and lay my tangled self in your loving hands.

I praise you that you know me,

where to begin healing me,

gently touching my heart, shining your light,

speaking truth, and releasing darkness.

You work in ways non-linear,

beyond my comprehension and understanding,

hovering over my chaos and mess,

bringing your order, life, and beauty.

I rest, trusting in your perfect timing,

to bring up the depths of my heart to cleanse,

it was never my duty,

never my work,

to disentangle, scrub, and bring perfection.

You have done it all,

and I humble my heart again

to draw close to you,

and by faith, receive all that you have done for me,

dying for each and every one of my sins,

and giving me in exchange, your perfect, beautiful life.

I rest secure in your love.

I bless you Lord.

Amen.

Words Of Life

O Lord,

I love your Word

as I imbibe,

it courses through my veins,

bringing life and healing to every cell —

nurturing, replenishing, and restoring to original design.

You bring healing to all my flesh,

life to all my bones,

and you teach me to renew my mind,

praising, loving, stewarding what you have created.

You are the source of life,

only you can transform and resurrect.

I love your Spirit,

I love your Word,

I love your presence,

I am blessed and loved in Messiah!

Amen.

You Make Me Yours

Abba,

I bless you for your mercy

that chose me in Messiah.

You plucked this rebellious heart out of the miry clay

and set my feet upon a solid rock.

Your salvation is once and eternal,

wondrous and powerful,

there is no way to freedom outside of your Son.

But even then I thought

to you I’ll come proving my worth and deeds

flexing my own strength,

puffed up and empty in my religious deeds,

Abba, you are long suffering and patient,

so kind to care —

to discipline and chastise those you love.

You pursue me,

break me and remake me,

taking me through the kiln,

I, an orphan, in mistaken identity,

with so much to prove.

You burn away my filthy rags and self righteous deeds

that fool no one but me.

I’m naked and bare

with nothing to bring

but a broken heart.

Your love and delight touch me now,

wretched me,

utterly wounded — lost, confused, and abandoned without you,

and I understand,

your salvation is my miracle every day,

once, today, ongoing, eternal,

just to be yours

an orphan no longer, but your child,

depending on you, leaning on you,

trusting you,

with nothing left to prove,

except that I’ve been redeemed, I’m celebrated, I’m seen.

Thank you,

you are such a good Abba,

salvation, deliverance, and all good things,

come from you alone,

and I bless you with all my heart.

Amen.

Refiner’s Fire

Photo by Ameen Fahmy on Unsplash.

Lord,

I bless you for the safety and security of your presence,

tight and cozy around the warmth of your love.

Your warmth melts the ice of trauma encasing me,

allowing my heart to come forth and rise.

Emotions and feelings long buried and hidden away

no longer cast long shadows of hopelessness and overwhelm,

holding me in bondage and despair.

Now you invite them, acknowledge them, and say it’s ok,

setting me free in your knowing and love.

Locked away in my keeping,

they have only corroded me from the inside out,

Lord they won’t be my treasures and idols any longer,

I give them to you.

Take my heart as I step into the center of your love,

offering the sacrifice of my old broken self

surrendering all of me and my religion,

baptize with me with your fire,

and purify, transform, cleanse, and redeem me to gold —

the beauty and holiness of a spirit at rest,

full of joy and peace,

trusting, hoping in you.

I praise you for your grace and redemption.

Amen.

Well Of Life

Photo by Sergio Thor Miernik on Unsplash.

Lord,

You are the fountain of living water

that will never run dry;

an unending source of life and healing,

refreshing my depths,

revitalizing, comforting, and renewing.

My wells had been dry

as grief and despair consumed me,

and drove me to broken cisterns nearby,

quick, convenient, fleeting in their promises of relief.

But in my depths, you had mercy.

As I cried out from parched earth,

withered soul and broken body,

you had mercy.

Washing my hurts and wounds,

cleansing away unsavory lies and sin,

nurturing where I was weak,

encouraging my spirit,

emboldening brave,

you were always with me,

waiting for me to turn to you.

By your mercy, you’ve allowed me to come,

now a broken, contrite spirit after years of destructive striving,

with empty hands and nothing to offer but my praise and thanks.

I love your salvation and continuing, unending mercy and loving grace.

You are life.

I love you Lord, have your way in me.

Amen.

With Him

Photo by Navin Kanti on Unsplash.

Lord,

I thank you that when I surrendered to you,

you came in and made your home in the midst of my heart,

kindling a cozy fire within,

to draw close to you with all my thoughts and emotions,

making it alright, just to come and sit,

enjoy you, and be me.

I draw close to you,

in awe of the warmth of your silence,

the comfort of your strength,

the kindness of your presence.

You are safe.

You cover my weakness.

You restore my soul.

I come as I am,

broken, exhausted, and lost,

and I find you,

listening to me.

To my voice, my heart,

my starts and stops, my confusion.

Your questions arrest me,

make me think,

your Word changes me,

bringing light and restoration,

wholeness, life, and healing.

Surrendering to you,

I realize, has always meant empowering me,

to be wholly, fully, all that you created me to be.

Lord, I am yours,

and you are mine.

I love you.

Amen.

Perfecter Of Your Faith

Abba,

I bless your light shining within me,

covering, healing, cleansing, transforming

the wounded places inside.

Fractures and brokenness that had filled me with shame,

now glow with your mercy, loving kindness, and grace.

I’m humbled by your goodness

and your acceptance of what I despised,

my unacceptable, unworthy parts,

and I find my darkness and light,

my shadows and good,

are all embraced by you.

Every piece of me is

your desire, your dream,

your redemption, your inheritance,

transformed, resurrected by your Spirit and fire.

I come knowing I’m embraced, accepted,

worthy exactly as I am,

shadow and light,

you welcome all of me,

every piece and part of me

bought and paid for at the highest price,

Your resurrection power has been working all along

redeeming, pruning, loving me into oneness with your Son,

your love and glory shining through my weakness and dependence,

I praise you for your glory within,

for your dream hidden in me,

redeemed by your Son.

Thank you Abba for your good work in me.

Amen.
